Introducing Mini Frames!

You can now place an order for Mini Frames! The mini frames are basically the same as the bigger ones, but mini! They are adorable and I can't wait to see more made. The group of frames below was sort-of a 'test run' for the Mini Frames. I designed them and JT built them for his parents for Christmas.

This particular grouping includes:

(4) Mini Frames --- (2) Circle Frames & (2) Arc Frames.

Circle opening --- 5 in. Arc opening --- 5x5

Circle & Arc border widths --- 2.5 in.

Color --- Midnite Black

No trim, Plain edge.

We always love it when customers send us a picture of the finished product hanging on their wall! My mother-in-law was kind enough to send us a picture of the group all together:

This was a custom order only because the customer wanted the frames to be square. John Taylor tried something new on these....he glazed over the paint (paint color used here is Midnite Black).

The customer LOVED the pair of frames and we got the sweetest email from her the day she received them:

"I got my frames---oh my goodness--I LOVE them!!!!! Thank you so much for such amazing work!! I have suggested my photographer friend get some of your work for her clients:)"

Emails such as this make our day!

I know these 3 frames will really make a statement hung together! With one of my favorite (and our most popular) trims, I love them.....of course. These were made for a customer out of town that saw our frames online. That always makes us happy.

I love the detail. In case you're interested, here is info on these frames --- 11x14 openings, 4 in. border width, color is Glazed Ecru, trim is Trellis.

My friend and interior designer Holly Mathis has been giving Kiwi Wood Werks so much business! We are thrilled that she has been promoting our frames to her interior design clients. You can visit Holly's delightful, inviting blog HERE. She has wonderful ideas and pictures. Below is a recent design board I put together for one of her clients wishing to add a little KWW decor to her dividing wall in her den. She sent pics, measurements and this fabric sample (see below). Here is a frame arrangement option I came up with for her as well as some color and trim choices that I thought would go good with one of her fabrics being used in the room. Can't wait to see the finished product and yes, I'll share! :)

There are no words to describe this beautiful, huge, masterpiece of a mirror that JT built. We're talking this thing is HUGE! Taller than JT, I believe. It had to be to fill up this space. I love the vision this home owner had for this space because it really is spectacular. And, the fact that the beautiful chandelier reflects is just a major plus in my eyes. ;)

I could just go on and on about this beautiful, rustic home. I wish I had pictures of every room so you could Ooooo & Ahhhh like I do every time I'm there. JT built this custom bench, window seat for their breakfast room.

I absolutely LOVE the color of their trim work in the house and I love how the bench is the same color.

This particular bench does not open. I love the inset of the wood. I also love how plain and simple it is. Really is stunning.

Something Different....

This frame is one of our standard sizes....with one of our standard trims.....and a standard border width. Nothing custom about it. Yet, it looks so different than any frame JT has ever made.

The difference is that he used the widest trim we have (Lattice Trim) and made the border width smaller than he usually does with that trim.

The gray color used on the frame is a custom color, too. I don't know the name, but if anyone want to order anything in this color I can find it out! I love it! I think it should become a new Kiwi color. ;) How about you?

And, I'm loving how the Lattice Trim butts up next to the edge of the frame. It really makes a statement.

My apologies for the poor photography. I'm just glad I have some photos of this console table to show you! The design was inspired by a console table in Crate & Barrel, but I can't find the picture of it.

It has glass on top and bottom and can be made in any size.

The color shown is Ebony Stain.

I was so excited when our friend Kim asked us to design and customize a couple of frames for some art she bought for her sister's new baby's nursery! The art is actually pages from book with drawings on top of the pages. How cute is that?

We customized the trim. It's a Dental trim, but not the Dental trim we usually offer in our line! It's custom and I thought it was the perfect touch to these frames and artwork.

I love the Brown Stain and the rustic look since it is for a little boy and the artwork is farm equipment. :)

& Designs (Craft Storage Cabinet & Hutch)

This has probably been one of my favorite projects so far. My friend Emily wanted a craft storage area for her office/play room. This piece is HUGE and I'm including a picture of JT standing by it so you can see just how big it is. For those who may be wondering, he built this in 2 parts --- the lower cabinet and the upper hutch.

The lower cabinets have doors because she plans to use this space for toy storage.

The top hutch she plans to use for work/craft stuff and there is even a cubby for her scrap book paper!

The rods are to hold spools of ribbon! How wonderful is that?!

I love all the detail John Taylor put into this piece and he loved the fact that she let him run with the design and he did whatever he wanted. :)

Here are some photos Emily sent me after she had started painted it. (It's painted/distressed a mustard yellow color and she plans to leave the bead board the natural color it is) And, I LOVE the fabric baskets she ordered to go in the cubbies!

New Kiwi Kids Design - Baseball Frame

A new design has been added to our Kiwi Kids line! I'm so glad there is now another boy-ish design for all our boys out there! :)

I love how the glaze makes it look all dirty and dingy like a real baseball....like it's worn.

John Taylor built a little breakfast nook bench for our friend. She wanted it cottage-y, with bead board. And, I'm not sure of the paint color, but it's a beautiful brown.....almost milk-chocolate. Enjoy these photos!

There was one electrical outlet that was going to end up being behind the bench, so John Taylor moved it to the end so that she was able to use it.

The top did open for storage, I just did not get a picture. Sorry! Wish I would have gotten one.

And, John Taylor completed the project by putting the moulding back around near the floor and matching it to her hardwood floors.

Custom Mirror Frames

You may remember this post about the outdoor chairs and table made for some friends of ours that were building a house. Well, they moved into their new house right before Christmas and I've been to visit. All I can say is WOW! That house is out of this world beautiful. So calm and soothing. Those are the only words I can think of. I just feel like I'm at Seaside when I'm in their house! Here are some custom mirror frames we made for the master bathroom. Everyone loves these! You will, too.....

These are glazed Ecru with Lattice Trim. Lattice Trim is my fave. I'm in love. :)

My New Faves!

I have to admit, the two tone look was not my fave out of all the frames JT has made. Until now.....

Perhaps it's because he used my favorite color with a glaze --- Powder Blue.

Maybe it's because he distressed it just the way I like it....

I just love the detail in this pair of frames. These photos do not do them justice....

We recently created an order for a customer who wanted her frames to be square. I personally love this and have a few square frames myself! They are hanging across from each other, so she didn't want them exact, but wanted them to accent each other as well as go with the colors in her home. Here they are as a group:

She picked the large Rope Trim for the biggest frame and the Beaded Trim for the (2) smaller frames.

I was so please with the way the colors turned out, too --- Glazed Burgundy and Glazed Ecru.

Frames For A Bride

The following 3 frames are for a Bride. I believe she's actually been married for a little while, but hasn't frames any of her wedding photos (I'm sure many can relate). She plans to frame their wedding portrait in the center frame and 2 smaller ones on each side. I know I say it all the time, but these pictures never do the frames justice! They are just so pretty in real life. There is a slight hint of brown from the glaze on the Olive frame and the two smaller frames (stained Brown) really bring that brown out in the big frame.

Our Favorites....

Everyone is always asking us which frames, trims and color combos we like best. So, here are just a few of our faves. Enjoy! And, as always, just email us with any questions. Oh, and be sure to check back tomorrow because he's almost finished with one that I think will become my new fave. :)

I think my absolute fave color is the Powder Blue with a glaze on it. (the back frame is glazed Buttercup)

I didn't think I'd like this color combo, but I do. JT came up with it. It's glazed Olde Lace with Honey Dew trim.

Mmmmm. One of my other faves! Ocean with a glaze.

No surprise. Powder Blue with a glaze. This circle frame is probably my favorite frame.

I LOVE the Rust color (left) and the right is Buttercup with a glaze.

I had to include this frame because it is one of my faves, too. This one showcases my favorite trim --- Trellis Trim (Ecru with Brown Stain underneath)

Another Trellis Trim in glazed Olive.

A custom design in glazed Powder Blue.

My favorite trim to see in the Silver Rub is the Oval Trim. This is beautiful!

I do love the Kiwi color with a glaze......

And last but not least, our signature frame - The "Kiwi" frame (Kiwi with Brown Stain underneath).

(neutral) Frames

The frames shown below are some of my favorites so far. Why? Why because they are neutral, of course. Now you know I love bright colors. I do. But the truth is that neutral feels comfortable to me. And, my absolute fave is Powder Blue, so I loved these frames JT made for a local gift boutique. :) Enjoy! And, as always, if you have any questions just ask.

& Designs (Vintage Inspired Play Kitchen)

We knew we wanted to give our daughter a play kitchen for her 1st birthday. Of course, I wanted it to be unique. Of course I wanted a Pottery Barn look-alike. Of course I think it's better than Pottery Barn. I don't think I need to even explain. The pictures will speak for themselves just how beautiful and perfect this play kitchen is.

Oh, but I must include all the info mumbo-jumbo. If you want to order one of these, John Taylor is only building 4 before Christmas. So, it's first come, first serve. Sorry, there is just no time to make more than 4. Also, this play kitchen can be customized to fit you child's room, etc. The one shown was designed to go along with our daughter's room decor.

John Taylor is going to be doing quite a bit of custom work for our friend, Kim. She and her hubby are in the process of building a new house. John Taylor is doing some work that will be inside their house, but first he built something for the outside! Kim's husband, Kevin, and JT share the same birthday! Cool huh? She surprised Kevin with some tall Adirondack chairs and a matching table. She set them on the front porch of their house that's being built and surprised him. The best part was, Kevin told her the day before his birthday that he thought it would be so cool to have some Adirondack chairs on the front porch. Little did he know.......

These were taken in front of our house. Hopefully I can get some in front of their house once it's finished! They are staining the front door the same color. So pretty! Love them! And, I love that they are taller than most Adirondack chairs. Sort-of "life guard" style.

Today I'm featuring a simple desk John Taylor built for my friend, Emily. She is in the process of making her bonus room her office/den. Emily has such wonderful taste, I know it's going to look wonderful. She gave John Taylor this picture as her want for a desk:

He did modify the legs and made them a little wider, but over all it's the same saw horse desk! It is going to look great in her office next to the other pieces he's building her since it's so simple. Here are some more pictures showing detail:

This is unfinsihed. She was unsure of the color she was going to paint it, but said she was thinking about doing some sort of decupodge on the desk top! Which I think would be fab! I can't wait to see the finished product and will post pictures of it when she is done.
